Alpha Esquires Los Angeles recently had the unique opportunity to visit the Inglewood Courthouse and Jail for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour. Our Esquires learned about the judicial system, explored careers in law and public service, and toured the courthouse and jail alongside members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The experience concluded with lunch and an inspiring conversation with Judge Victor Wright.

Alpha Esquires Los Angeles recently embarked on our 2nd Annual Mountain Biking & Camping Trip at Malibu Creek State Park. Esquires and mentors had the opportunity to unplug from their daily routines, connect with nature, and strengthen their bonds through a weekend of adventure and learning.

The weekend featured an exhilarating mountain biking excursion, an authentic camping experience, and an engaging educational session on the park’s unique wildlife and ecosystem.

On Saturday, June 27, Alpha Esquires Los Angeles proudly celebrated the 11th Annual Alpha Esquires Beautillion!

Thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, donated, volunteered, and supported this year’s event. Because of your generosity, we raised over $14,000 to provide scholarships, leadership development, educational programming, and year-round mentoring for young men throughout Los Angeles.

Most importantly, we celebrated 10 outstanding Alpha Esquires whose growth, character, and leadership were on full display. We celebrated 5 graduating seniors going on to post-secondary education:

• Senior Esquire Bryant Moncrease will be attending El Camino College, pursuing a degree in Business.
• Senior Esquire Edward Orr Jr. will be attending Howard University, pursuing a degree in Biology.
• Senior Esquire Nathan Pugh will be attending Howard University, pursuing a degree in Political Science.
• Senior Esquire Ali Tomlinson will be attending Syracuse University, pursuing a degree in Engineering.
• Senior Esquire Benjamin Wandrick will be attending Howard University, pursuing a degree in Finance.

We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and grateful to the families, mentors, and community partners who helped make this evening such a success.

This past weekend, Alpha Esquires were invited back to participate in Fly Compton’s Flying Day. The afternoon featured a Torqued Up Workshop led by Boeing professionals, exploration of the Skybrary, and an engaging guest speaker. To cap off the experience, Esquires had the unique opportunity to fly in the back of a small Cessna aircraft.

It was a fun and exciting afternoon for all involved. A huge thank you to the Fly Compton Foundation for hosting such an impactful event!

Alpha Esquires recently participated in a sports-themed Paint & Sparkling Cider Sip led by Bro. Errol Cook, Esq., at his art gallery, Counsel and Canvas. During the session, Bro. Cook guided the Esquires in designing their own basketball shoes while engaging them with basketball trivia throughout the creative process.

Alpha Esquires recently had the unique opportunity to host students from the Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine for another Careers in Medicine Workshop. It was an engaging and insightful discussion about their individual journeys into medicine and what a career in the medical field truly entails.

Our Esquires had the chance to gain hands-on experience with various medical tools and deepen their understanding of the pathways and possibilities within medicine.

We are incredibly grateful to these outstanding students for their time and mentorship, and we look forward to continued collaboration in the future.

Alpha Esquires had the incredible opportunity to attend the HBCU Classic matchup between North Carolina A&T University and Hampton University. The event provided an exciting evening of high-level college basketball while celebrating the rich traditions of HBCU and Divine Nine culture. Esquires also experienced the energy surrounding NBA All-Star Weekend, giving them a firsthand look at the excitement, pride, and community that make these events so special. It was an unforgettable experience that showcased excellence on and off the court.

This past weekend, Alpha Esquires hosted our 11th Annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, and it was a huge success. Thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by our Esquires, and to those who supported and donated.

In honor of MLK Day, we also hosted our 2nd Annual MLK Day of Service in collaboration with The Biddy Mason Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit that provides resources to foster youth while raising awareness for Black history. The Foundation is named after Biddy Mason, a formerly enslaved woman who became a leading philanthropist in Los Angeles. The afternoon included an informative session educating the community on resources and support for foster youth. Volunteers donated hygiene items and assembled informational packets for those in need.

Alpha Esquires kicked off the new year with a refreshing Polar Bear Plunge, symbolizing the opportunity to leave the past behind and embrace new beginnings. More than just a cold-water challenge, the experience represented resilience, courage, and a fresh start. Together, the Esquires welcomed the year with an invigorating dive, strengthening their bonds through fellowship, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to making the most of the year ahead.
