Ronald Stagg

Ronald Stagg  is entering into his 24th year as an educator and youth mentor. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Public Administration with an concentration in Criminal Justice from California State University Dominguez Hills.  In addition, he holds a California single subject teaching credential for Social Studies.  For over thirty years, Mr. Stagg has served as a mentor and has associated with many mentoring organizations.

He began his career in education as teacher at the Los Angeles Job Corps – vocation training program, servicing young adults from urban locations in southern California in the subjects of English, Math, Writing, and job readiness skills.  Due to his dedication to teaching, the Job Corps asked Mr. Stagg to implement an education program geared towards students with low literacy and numeracy skills, along with learning disabilities. In 1998, he would transfer to the Long Beach Job Corps and assumed the position of Academic Manager, responsible for all academic services at the site. In 2001,  Mr. Stagg would join the School for Integrated Academics and Technology Charter High School (SIATech) as a Social Studies teacher.  Due to his unyielding commitment to teaching, he received numerous promotions to eventually become the Site Leader/Principal at the Long Beach Site.  SIATech Charter School is an organization dedicated to reengaging high school dropouts to the education process, while providing tools to become a success in college and in their careers, while partnering with Job Corps and other job readiness programs throughout California.  

Brother Stagg is an Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Fall 1987 Initiate of the Mu Chi Chapter, seated at California State University at Long Beach.  As member of the Chapter, Brother Stagg would serve as Chapter Treasure and Dean of Intake. In addition, he chaired numerous fraternity events at Cal State Dominguez Hills for the Mu Chi Chapter.  Upon graduating from college, Brother Stagg would immediately join the local alumni chapter to continue his service to Alpha Phi Alpha.  As an esteemed Alumni member, Brother Stagg served as the fraternity’s Southern California District Associate Chair of the Grievance Committee, the Parliamentary Chair and served eight years as an Area Director, ensuring that local College and Alumni Chapters maintained the high standard of Alpha Phi Alpha.  Currently, Brother Stagg serves as a member of the Alpha Esquire Mentoring Program and serves as Beta Psi Lambda’s Dean of Intake.


Fred

Fred Smith

Fred Smith, Life Member #6467, was initiated into the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. on March 9, 1980 at Arizona State University.  A native of Los Angeles, Fred has worked in the corporate arena in Sales and Operations leadership positions for 30 years for major corporations including Xerox Corp., Eastman Kodak, Ricoh and most recently Canon USA.

Currently, Fred is President of YBi Management Services, a real estate investment and property management firm.  Also, Fred serves on the National Advisory Board for the W.F. Franke College of Business at Northern Arizona University and is on the Board of the Neighborhood Council of Westchester Playa del Rey.  Fred is married to Kathy and they have three children – Jelani 35 a graduate of the Univ. of Washington, Kristen 29 a graduate of Arizona State Univ. and Kayla 27 a graduate of UC Santa Barbara.

Brian Bailey

Brian Bailey is a Baptist minister and Quality Assurance Coach for THINK Together extended learning program. Brian is a graduate of California State University, Long Beach majoring in history. Education has been an important part of Brian’s life both secularly and spiritually. Brian was ordained to ministry in 2007 but has been involved in serving others from an early age. From age 6, Brian was involved with church choir and has been a music director for the past 13 years. He has also served as administration minister for the past 10 years. As a Quality Assurance Coach, Brian oversees the extended learning programs of 12 different elementary schools in two school districts in southern California. He trains staff and coordinates with district and community partners to enhance their extended learning time. The development of young people has been and remains the passion of Brian’s life. Whether preaching a sermon or enjoying a Laker’s game, Brian strives to be a positive influence in the lives of young people.
